Dr. Gordon has a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. He has a Master of Ministry degree from Criswell College in Dallas, Texas and a Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Also, he earned the Doctor of Theology Degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His area of study was Systematic Theology, and his dissertation dealt with contemporary Christian Apologetics.

Dr. Gordon served in the Interfaith Witness Department of the Southern Baptist Convention for over twenty years. He directed the World Religions section when the department was part of the Home Mission Board and headed up research on esoteric groups when the department transferred to the North American Mission Board.

Dr. Gordon has served as senior pastor of four churches and as the Director of Missions for the Ebenezer Baptist Association in Georgia.
