JOSHUA STEWART

Joshua E. Stewart grew up in Walton County, GA. He became a believer in 1999. Shortly after he walked away from his career as a rodeo athlete (bullfighter, bareback and saddle broncs). He graduated from Luther Rice in 2005. Stewart earned a Master of Divinity in Biblical Studies (2008), a Master of Theology (2010), and a Ph.D. in Hebrew and Old Testament (2014) from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Joshua taught at New Orleans and Luther Rice as an adjunct before joining the faculty of Luther Rice in 2013. He has served in churches as a college/singles minister and as a youth minister. Dr. Stewart specializes in Hebrew linguistics, the Psalter, and Wisdom Literature. He has several essays in the forthcoming Baker Exegetical Dictionary of Biblical Words. He is also the general editor of the forthcoming Hebrew Scriptures published by McGahan Publishing. Joshua is a regular contributor to the online journal Perspectives. He is currently working on the contracted monograph Cursing for the Church?: The Imprecatory Psalms as Christian Scripture. Stewart's great passion is to assist the church in the integration of sound-academics and thoughtful exposition.
In his free time Joshua enjoys being outside working on building projects, hunting, remodeling, raising cattle, gardening, and yard maintenance. He describes himself as “a jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”
