Dr. Oscar Thompson, Evangelism Professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, often said, “The most important word in the English language is ‘relationship.’” In 1970, the two most important relationships of my life began. In April of that year I met a young lady who would become my wife. In August of that same year I repented of my sins and trusted Jesus Christ as my Savior. Two years later (1972) the Lord Jesus called me into vocational ministry. Bonnie and I were married in June of 1974. That same month, I began my first pastorate in Tallapoosa, Georgia. Forty-five years later, Bonnie and I have been blessed with two children (Whitney P. Capps and Evan Posey) and ten grandchildren. For the last 37 years we have lived in Oxford, Georgia, pastoring Oxford Baptist Church (1982-2001) and Crosspointe Church (2001-present). While still serving Crosspointe, I am humbled and honored to join the teaching staff at Luther Rice College and Seminary.
