THOMAS MAPES
Dean of the College and Seminary; Associate Professor of English; General Education Coordinator
B.A., Rhodes College; M.Ed., Ph.D., Georgia State University
Thomas Mapes grew up in a Christian home and came to know Christ personally in the eighth grade. He has taught English in a variety of formats and at a variety of academic levels since 2003. Other than English pedagogy, Thomas’s interests include the relationship between science and faith as expressed in literature. This interest led to his 2015 dissertation, an investigation of the import of Victorian science in the religious poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins.
Thomas is married to Lisa, and is the proud papa of Carrie. He joined the Luther Rice faculty in January of 2013.
