OBBIE TYLER TODD

Obbie is Teaching Pastor and Theologian in Residence at Cross Community Church in Beaufort, South Carolina. He previously served at churches in Kentucky, Louisiana, Georgia, and Illinois. Obbie holds a PhD in Theology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he studied 18th and 19th century Baptist theology. Obbie specializes in American religious history and has been published in a dozen academic journals, including the International Journal of Systematic Theology, Scottish Journal of Theology, and The Journal of Church and State. Obbie has published five books, including his most recent, The Beechers: America's Most Influential Family (LSU Press, 2024). He has also written on American religious history for Desiring God and The Gospel Coalition. Obbie and his wife Kelly have twins, Roman and Ruby. Obbie loves running outdoors, eating Mexican food, rooting for the Kentucky Wildcats, and reading American history.
